Donations for poultry

Before we go into what we ask for our minimum donation.   I would like to explain more on what we are and what we do with your donations.

- What we are -We are a not-for-profit organisation, this means we have no funding, no share holders, we have nothing and run on the breadline, and that everything that comes in goes back on the hens.  LHR, was at the start funded by myself and has since been funded by your donations.  We rely heavily on good will donations and donations for the hens rehomed.

- What we do with your donations - All donations are receipted and logged in accounts like any normal business.  With those donations we buy;

- 1-2 tonne of feed a week costing £300-600
- Medical supplies such as bandages, creams, syringes, anti-septic washes and sprays
- Medicines and veterinary bills (highest £1200 in 3 weeks)
- Cleaning goods
- Bedding
- Deisel
- Maintence/ paint / wood
- Electric bills
- Water bill
- Electric fencing
- Enclosures
- Crates x 200
- Trailer
- Buildings
- Equipment
- Office materails
- Hospital cages
- Heat lamps
- Feeders and drinkers
- Vitamins

If you have had hen's off us before you would have noticed our increase in the donation asked.   This is due to struggling to pay large vet bills due to our 'every hen gets a chance' rule and keeping up with feed costs especially after our large rescue.

Hen's and Cockerels  - £2.50 donation each

Thank you for choosing to give a home to our beautiful hens and cockerels.
