Volunteers needed to help us on rescue days! Please contact us stating you would like to volunteer emailing subject as 'volunteer' to littlehenrescue@aol.com

You contact us via our 'contact us' page, we will reply to your email with our acceptance email and a little information you'll need to read.
We will then send you out an email to 'book in', this will show the dates and days we are re-homing, offering you an option of which day and a preferred time.
This 'booking in' email is not a confirmation but simply lets you know of times available. This will be sent to all on the list and the first people to reply will get booked in first. We can sometimes re-home up to 4000 hens in one weekend, so the sooner you reply the more likely you'll get the time you wanted.
Everyone will get a confirmation email of your time and day, declaring an exact time. This means you are booked in and we will expect to see you unless you cancel.
At the farm
After we find good homes, we make an agreement with the farmer, we catch the hens, we crate them, and we transport the hens to our safe collection point details of the address can be found on our 'find us' page.

Once back at Little Hen Rescue, we check the hens over for any signs of illness or injury. We trim their nails and settle them with food and water. Hens are given time to cool down and calm down before their new owners come to collect.

You will pay your donation, sign contract and receive a receipt for your booked hens. You will read and sign an adoption form, and I will need your full address for our data base. We will then discuss your set up at home, and help chose you suitable hens to join your family.
We will have a stall out which sells everything we use at 'LHR' for the rescued hens, what are available to buy are shown on 'our shop' page

What will happen in the future
It is the same system for all the types of poultry we home, although the circumstances in which we get them will vary.
We have the right to refuse you hens if we believe you will not meet the standard of care we expect to be provided. Our poultry are re-homed to PET homes only, and will have future check ups.
